Switchfoot Concert
So last night, I went to see Switchfoot at Slim's in San Francisco.
It was a pretty fun show! ;) They played quite a few of their new songs from Oh! Gravity, but they also played assorted songs from Beautiful Letdown, Nothing is Sound, and even Learning to Breathe. Probably my favorite was when they sang "Faust, Midas, and Myself." They played a seemingly made-up-on-the-spot song about San Francisco played by Jon on both guitar and harmonica. And the funniest part of the the evening was when they played a rocking cover of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love." Great fun!
The highlight of the night was during the last song before the encore. Jon took his mic and made his way around the crowd to stand on the bar, which happened to be right in front of us! Awesome! And what a sweet guy for leaning over and whispering in the ear of the severely disabled boy who was sitting right there.
I have to say, it's weird, but I feel a sort of kinship with Jon Foreman. I don't *really* know him, and of course he doesn't know me, but from the things he says and the songs he writes, I feel like we really have some common ground. That and he reminds me of an older version of my cousin as far as looks and mannerisms.
Overall, very enjoyable show. Not the greatest, but definitely a wonderful time was had by all. Good enough for me to buy the bootleg cd they were offering. Too bad it only has the first 6 songs. If I can upload them later, I'll post one up here!
